How much does car insurance cost in California?
California drivers with a clean record typically pay about $50–$95 per month for a state-minimum 30/60/15 liability policy and $250–$300+ per month for full coverage statewide. Rates vary heavily by ZIP code, age, vehicle, and driving history — two identical profiles in different cities can land hundreds of dollars apart.
California's new minimum liability limits (30/60/15) took effect January 1, 2025 under SB 1107, replacing the 15/30/5 minimums that had stood since 1967. Most agents — us included — recommend carrying more than the minimum.

California home insurance — why you can't estimate it online
California home insurance pricing has become extremely carrier-specific. Many standard carriers have paused new policies in high-wildfire ZIP codes, which is why homes in those areas often need the California FAIR Plan — the state's insurer of last resort for wildfire-risk properties — paired with a wrap-around difference-in-conditions (DIC) policy that adds liability, theft, and water damage coverage the FAIR Plan doesn't include on its own.
Because the FAIR Plan + DIC combination is priced separately by two different insurers and depends on your exact address, roof age, defensible space, and prior claims, a self-serve estimator can't hit it accurately. Estrella can quote both auto and home, including FAIR Plan + DIC where standard carriers have declined coverage — often with a bundle discount on your auto policy.
We know which Orange County and Inland Empire ZIPs still get standard carrier quotes and which need FAIR Plan + DIC.
We structure your DIC so total protection matches or exceeds a standard HO-3 policy.
Bundling home + auto usually knocks 10–15% off your car insurance premium.
